As a non-profit, we plough 100% of the income generated by membership and partnership fees back into the organisation, helping us to:
- develop the openEHR specifications and clinical models
- support open source software development
- sustain the organisational infrastructure and maintain professional accreditations and memberships
- provide educational initiatives such as the openEHR Fellowship Program
- increase awareness of openEHR and promote the standard to a global audience

You can join openEHR as either an Individual or Professional member. Use this table to find out which membership option is right for you:

If you would like to partner with openEHR at an organisational level, you can apply to become a member of our Industry Partner programme. Industry Partnership is recommended for vendor companies, integrators or consulting companies using openEHR.

Become an organisational member
Organisational membership is for government bodies, public healthcare providers, public sector organisations, jurisdictional organisations (such as ministries of health and regional health authorities), non-profit non-governmental organisations providing public services, recognised membership organisations whose members work in healthcare or health IT, and recognised educational and research institutions using openEHR.
Membership is charged annually in accordance with the type of organisation.
Benefits
- Right to nominate/be nominated for an openEHR Board position
- Right to collectively elect organisational board member representatives for a period of two years
- Visibility on the openEHR website*
- Right to contribute to openEHR industry news and events (fair usage applies)
- Right to contribute to development of the training accreditation/certification process
- Priority over individual members or non-members re: clinical model change requests, as directed by the clinical program board
- Employees can become members of programme committees
- Up to 70% of the fees will be directed to the openEHR clinical modelling program, as determined by the openEHR International board and subject to the advice of the clinical programme board. Likely use of such funding to include:
- support for protected time for a Chief Clinical Information Officer to lead development
- project management support for the clinical modelling programme for change requests, translation requests, and to facilitate communication between editorial team members
- support for protected time for new Editorial Team members
- Right to vote in open meetings
- Employees can apply for education provider recognition
