Birger has been involved with openEHR since 2013. After doing research on semantic data warehousing based on openEHR at Hannover Medical School, he wrote the technical concept of the HiGHmed consortium. Since 2018, HiGHmed establishes a secondary use of health data across 10 university hospitals based on open standards. He led the development team of EHRbase, the leading open source implementation of openEHR. Since 2022, he works as a product manager for vitagroup’s HIP CDR, a comprehensive SaaS-platform based on openEHR.
